Excuse my telegraphic style here but I am writing this on my iPhone.
Seems that the crisis in northern Kosovo created by Pristina's polce invasion - it's special units sent to seize the two boundary posts is being resolved. The northern Serb community reacted on strength to block the roads and there has been only a few reports of gunfire. It could have been worse.
EULEX denied it was involved in the police action by the Albanians and the EU said that unilateral actions were not the way to do things. Pristina says it gave EULEX a chance to take the northern posts to enforce it's blockage of Serbian goods. As EULEX failed to act, Pristina ordered it's police into action.
Problem here is that Pristina was evidently able to launch it's police without EULEX even being aware. EULEX is at the least asleep on the job or perhaps quietly complicit. Real peacekeeping would require using the executive authority granted it by the UN in 2008.
KFOR is no better. It is supposed to prevent security problems and contain or reverse provocations such as Pristina's police ploy.
Belgrade has appealed to the UN, EULEX, etc. Instead it may have to ask the UNSC to reinsert UN police and genuine UN peacekeeping
I think crisis in northern Kosovo are created by UNMIK for years! Fortunately, there are the United States to help this country.
ReplyDeleteIt's a slam in the face of Thaci, Dell, Feith, accompanied by the French and British heads of offices in PR! For years the international pro-Pristina decision makers have been repeating the same mistake - they rely on inaccurate information collected in boring, sterile discussions with irrelevant, self-imagined local lencers who do nothing but speak to please the ears of incompetent internationals from PR.

ReplyDeleteHahahaha. Moron. Why don't you come with Pakistani blue helmets and rule.
Get a job Mr Karuci, your scam is over. KPS proved that they can go to N Kosova and impose order in a peaceful way. As for you inciting Serbs to riot...dangerous, very dangerous. If KPS start t get ambushed many will rush to their aid, and many more will be left in the South too.
What crisis are you talking Mr Galluci, people like, that were in the helm of UNMIK in Kosovo contributed mostly to this situation, by stopping Government of Kosovo on taking control of their sovereignty over their legitimate territory.
ReplyDeleteYou should be ashamed of this......
Mr Galluchi,
ReplyDeleteThank you for continuing to share your opinion with us! Interesting to read!
Reading most of this comments, and being aware of other info, there can be only one conclusion:
ReplyDeleteHaving analyses like the once made by Mr. Gallucci, prove that they are accurate when those who have been victims in 90's, show that they have learned nothing from that and doing the same to others now. Actually, someone like me who have seen in 1998-1999 their resistance as justified, looking at how they use today similar or same method on the others, just indicates to us as internationals that they are far, far away from how we seen then in that time.
I just hope for the good sake of all Kosovars that they will change their strategy and understanding that this way will only take them to the same place where they have been before. Talking about future, EU membership and democracy just sounds so untrue when we all see what is happening in reality.
I trust that they will find strength and wisdom before it is too late.
Oh, the truth is painful for you guys? It hurts us as well - you've imposed something in the south which we do not like! Grow up.
