Kosovo: The New KFOR "Agreement"

I've been passed what appears to be the new KFOR "agreement" on the boundary crossings.  In it KFOR seems to suggest that it is enforcing Pristina's blockade because of security reasons.  By making the Gates "restricted military areas" KFOR wants to suggest it can do anything it pleases rather than simply ensure that whatever crosses is not a weapon.  It also appears that Kosovo police - who exactly? - will be involved in controlling the train crossing the boundary.

The "agreement" is reportedly much less than Belgrade wanted but the Serbian government is urging the northerners to accept it as a chance for a better solutionKFOR expects the barricades to fall but the four municipal assemblies are meeting today to decide.

KFOR is clearly acting far outside its UN mandate in stopping non-lethal material from crossing the boundary.  It is now apparently enforcing the "border" of the independent Kosovo state.  But maybe that won't make much practical difference.  The next step would be to support the imposition of Kosovo Albanian police and officials, that could well trigger a real conflict.

  1. Told you Serbs would surrender, it's probably genetic. Only the Oliver Ivanovic's gang /MUP is determined to continue their smuggling business and 'resistance'. The rest are tired and don't even have tractors to pull a Krajina event.

Now little by little Kosovo law and order will be placed there too like in the south. First move was to close the border points, the second was to divide the Serbs. hahaha. Whoever opposes this now will be deemed an extremist, terrorist and dealt with. Perfect. What will Tadic get in return? A promise that Serbia will join EU in 2020. Maybe. By then all will join anyway in one shot, if EU is still together.

Maybe this is no big deal...and Red Cross will give a "Human catastrophe" certificate to import into Kosova from Serbia a truck of cement next time Jovan wants to build a house. r maybe he'll have to buy Albanian /Turkish or Croatian cement and bricks.

By agreeing to this, Tadic agreed to a new reality, and that cannot be changed without losing even that tiny credibility they have.

Where's that 'house to house war' you promised us Galluci? They don't dare to start it, they know the end.

  2. Just to note, I do not subscribe to triumphalism and find it usually is pre-mature. I never promised "house to house war" and hopefully there will never be such. In any case, NATO is never likely to go that far.
